NEW YORK – October 7th marked a deeply traumatic day for New York City. Within the Jewish community and beyond, it feels as though we are all only a degree or two away from someone who was brutally murdered that day. We have come to know the names and faces of the hostages—including the 101 still in captivity—as if they were members of our own families.

It is distressing to witness the barbarity of October 7th being downplayed and denied, especially in the face of a disturbing rise in antisemitism on the streets of New York City. But one year later, we know this: We will never forget the horrors of that day, we will never stop mourning those we lost, and we will never stop fighting to make this world safer for the Jewish community and all people.

CBS News: Protesters gather at Columbia University after school says DHS detained student

Federal agents detained a Columbia University student Thursday morning at one of the school's residential buildings, acting President Claire Shipman wrote in an email to students. Manhattan Borough President Brad Hoylman-Sigal claimed in a social media post that the agents "impersonated NYPD with fake badges and a phony missing persons bulletin for a 5 year old girl." CBS News New York's Doug Williams reports.
